Qualifications for the Posts are as follows :~

 A. Officer
 (i) Director of Research :~

Essential Qualification (E.Q.) :~
(1) Consistently good academic record with 1st class or high 2nd class Master's Degree in Agriculture or Horticulture or equivalent recognized qualification,
(2) Ph.D. Degree in Agricultural Science or any of the Sciences basic to Agriculture,
(3) Ten years' experience of research in any branch of Agriculture/Horticulture as evidenced by publications in Standard Journals,
(4) Evidence of ability to plan, organize, guide and administer research activity,
(5) At least five years' experience as chief of any research organization/multidisciplinary research project or as the Head of the Department in any institute (National/State/University level) where research forms one of the major activities.

Desirable Qualification (D.Q.) :~
(1) Experience of teaching,
(2) Experience in Extension work in Agriculture and/or in Allied Science,
(3) Experience in academic administration. In case of exceptionally qualified and experienced candidates, administrative experience pertaining to essential qualification may be relaxed.

 (ii) Director of Farms :~

Essential Qualification (E.Q.) :~
(1) Uniformly good academic record with at least Master's degree in Agronomy or in any branch of agricultural/horticultural science or recognized qualifications,
(2) At least ten years' experience in the management of farms in senior administrative position,
(3) Knowledge of agricultural situations in the country particularly in the state of West Bengal.

Desirable Qualification (D.Q.) :~
(1) A Doctoral degree or equivalent publications in agricultural and/or allied subjects.
(2) Proven capacity of leadership in organization and management of University or State Farms.

 (iii) Comptroller :~

Essential Qualification (E.Q.) :~
(1) A good academic record with Master's degree or its equivalent professional qualification,
(2) Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountant/Cost Accountant of India or experience in IA & AS or equivalent service or a Master's degree in business administration with specialization in finance,
(3) Preference will be given to Master's degree in commerce,
(4) At least ten years' experience in a government office or in a University or in an Institute of higher learning in high administrative post involving supervision, control, planning and auditing of financial matters.

 (iv) Librarian :~

Essential Qualification (E.Q.) :~
(1) Uniformly good academic record with a Master's degree in Library Science,
(2) At least ten years' experience of working in administration/management position in a Library of a University or of any comparable reputed institute,
(3) Knowledge in modern automation system in Library.

Desirable Qualification (D.Q.) :~
(1) A Doctoral Degree or Published Research Work of similar merit,
(2) Knowledge of at least one foreign language other than English.

 (v) Associate Director of Research :~

Essential Qualification (E.Q.) :~
(1) Consistently good academic record in any discipline of Agriculture/ Horticulture,
(2) At least ten years' experience in research in the field of agriculture or allied Science,
(3) Evidence of ability to plan, organize, guide and administer research activities,
(4) At least two years' experience of leadership in organizing research or extension programme/Head of the Department in an Institute (National, State or at the University level), where research forms a major activity,
(5) Doctoral degree and published research work in reputed journal.

Desirable Qualification (D.Q.) :~
(1) Experience of teaching,
(2) Experience in collaborative research with different disciplines,
(3) Experience in administration.

 (vi) Dean Students' Welfare :~

Essential Qualification (E.Q.) :~
(1) Uniformly good academic record with at least Master's Degree or its equivalent,
(2) At least ten years' experience in academic Institutions like University or in an Institute of higher learning having at least five years' experience in administration with teaching or training background.

Desirable Qualification (D.Q.) :~
(1) A Doctoral degree with high level administrative experience in a government or quasi-government organization with a good background in Social Service or sports, games and other extra curricular activities of outstanding nature or management in senior position.

 (vii) Assistant Director of Farms :~

Essential Qualification (E.Q.) :~
(1) Consistently good academic record with a Master's degree in agriculture or horticulture following a B.Sc.(Ag.) Honours or B.Sc. (Hort.) Honours,
(2) At least one year experience in farm management or farm based research or extension work.

 (viii) NSS Coordinator-cum-Residential Superintendent :~

Essential Qualification (E.Q.) :~
(1) Uniformly good academic record with a Master's degree,
(2) Recognized experience of at least five years in youth service work or sports or scouting etc. OR  Two years' experience in an academic administrative position in a college or an institute or organization/ a lecturer of a college or University with two years' experience in youth service particularly dealing with the affairs of the students.

Desirable Qualification (D.Q.) :~
(1) A degree/ diploma in Social Welfare/Physical Education/National Institute of Sports.

 B. Teacher (Permanent)
  Professor :~

Essential Qualification (E.Q.) :~
(i)

A 1st class or high 2nd class Master's Degree in the subject or a cognate subject / discipline,

(ii) Consistently good academic record with a doctoral degree in the relevant or cognate subject / discipline,
(iii) Ten years' experience of teaching and/or research and extension education in the relevant field of specialization of which five years' must be in the rank of Reader or equivalent position (in identical pay scale) in relevant subject,
(iv) Distinguished record of research/extension education activities and/or authorship of Books or a chapter of books of high standard as evidenced by publications,
(v) Successfully guiding research at the doctoral level or adequate experience to provide leadership in the subject or discipline preferably in Agricultural University/Institute/Organization of repute.

  Reader :~

Essential Qualification (E.Q.) :~
(i) A 1st or high 2nd class Master's Degree in the subject/discipline,
(ii) Uniformly good academic record with a doctoral degree in the relevant subject or cognate subject/ discipline,
(iii) At least five years experience of teaching and / or research and / or extension education in the rank of Lecturer or equivalent position in a University or Institute or Research Organization in the subject or in the field of specialization as to be evidenced by required publications.
    The following specializations are required for the below mentioned teaching posts (Reader) :
1.

Genetics & Plant Breeding: Genetics & Plant Breeding/Bio-technology/ Agriculture Bio-technology.

2. Vegetable and Spice Crops:  Vegetable crops and/or spices
3.

Floriculture, Medicinal & Aromatic Plants: Floriculture, Medicinal & Aromatic Plants

4. AICRP on Floriculture: Floriculturist (Reader) : Floriculture

  Lecturer :~
  for the Post of Agronomy - Agril. Statistics and Animal Sciences

Essential Qualification (E.Q.) :~
(1) Good academic record with a 1st or high 2nd class Master's Degree in the subject area of Agricultural Science or Animal Sciences.

Desirable Qualification (D.Q.) :~
(1) A Doctoral Degree in the relevant subject / discipline or at least two years' experience of teaching and/or research and/or extension in the subject or discipline as evidenced by research publication.


  for the Post of Food Processing, Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science & Engineering

Essential Qualification (E.Q.) :~
(i)

Master's Degree in appropriate field of Engineering/ Technology,

(ii) Good Academic record with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/ Technology. First class at Bachelor's Degree and/or Master's Degree level,
(iii) One year's relevant professional experience outside academic/research institutions.
    The following specializations are required for the below mentioned teaching posts (Lecturer) :
1. Food Processing: Food processing/Agriculture and Food Engineering
2. Computer Science & Engineering – Computer Science & Engineering at both under Graduate and Post Graduate level.

 

Provided that in the event of a candidate having not acquired professional experience or a person possessing such experience is not found, the person appointed will be required to obtain desired professional experience within a period of 8 years of his appointment as lecturer, failing which he will not be able to earn increments until he fulfils these requirements.

Candidates having Teaching/Research/ Industrial experience in the appropriate field will be preferred.

 

 C. Non-Teaching

Post Qualification
For Sl. No. (i) : Class VIII passed. Working experience in a laboratory is desirable.
For Sl. No. (ii) : Class VIII passed. Experience in handling of office records and files is desirable
For Sl. No. (iii) Class VIII passed. Good physical built and ability to perform extensive field works.


       Advance increments up to five in number may be allowed for exceptionally qualified and/or experienced candidates. The University has a provision of Career Advancement Scheme for its teachers.

       The University reserves the right not to fill up any of the posts and to alter or modify any condition at any stage.  The number of posts may increase or decrease. Employed person should apply through proper channel.  No T.A. & D.A. shall be admissible for appearing in interview or aptitude test.  On the basis of records/testimonials, selection may be done in absentia in case of internal candidate, if the candidate is abroad/unable to appear before selection committee and formal approach is made to the University in that regard.


       All posts except the post of Sl. No. B (2)(i) of teaching and C (ii) of Non-teaching category are permanent in nature.  The post of Floriculturist (Reader) is purely temporary and will continue as long as the probject (All India Coordinated Research Project on Floriculture) will be funded by the ICAR.  The University shall not make any guarantee for absorption of the candidate, so selected under the Project, in any other posts beyond the tenure or in the event of withdrawal of the project by ICAR.  The post of Office Attendant is against a lien vacancy and may be terminated as soon as the person for whom the vacancy has been created joins the University.

       Reservation for SC/ST, OBC and Physically Challenged candidates shall be maintained as per Govt. Rules.

       Interested candidates are to apply in the prescribed form obtainable from the office of the Registrar (Recruitment Section) either personally on any working day between 12-16 hours or by sending a self addressed stamped (of Rs. 5/-) envelop (20 cm x 11 cm) and on payment of Rs. 400/-, Rs. 300/- & Rs. 200/-  and Rs. 150/- for the posts under Pay Scale of Rs. 16,400-450-20,900-500-22,400/- , Rs. 12,000-420-18,300/-, Rs. . 8,000-275-13,500/- and below pay scale of Rs. 8,000-13,500/-  respectively as non-refundable application fee in the form of Demand Draft drawn in favour of "Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya" payable at Cooch Behar, West Bengal.  SC/ST candidates are to pay one fourth (1/4) of the above stated application fees.        The filled in application forms shall have to reach the Registrar's office (Recruitment Section) within 30.08.2007 and 13.09.2007 in case of candidates from abroad and outside the State. The application form may also be downloaded for use. However, no application in down loaded proforma without demand draft will be considered. Mere possession of minimum qualification shall not make an applicant entitled to be called for interview or aptitude test. Age may be relaxed for exceptionally qualified/experienced candidates. Application incomplete in any respect will be rejected without adducing any reason thereof.  Candidates who have applied earlier in response to earlier advertisement need not apply further.  However, they may submit their additional qualifications or experiences, if any.
